The Edge certification represents the realization of an inclusive human resources management roadmap.

Referring to the bank, this prestigious recognition testifies to the efforts made to respect international standards in terms of fairness.

It’s official. Societe Generale Morocco is now the first bank in Africa to obtain EDGE Level 2 Move certification. An achievement that the bank says highlights its commitment to gender equality in the workplace. This prestigious recognition demonstrates the bank’s efforts to meet international fairness standards. “Société Générale Maroc is proud to be the first bank in Africa to obtain EDGE Move certification, a recognition that reinforces our commitment to gender equality in the workplace.

This distinction attests to the sustained commitment of our Management Board for equality between women and men”, underlined Bachir Lotfi, Human Resources Director of Societe Generale Morocco. Referring to the bank, this commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is a key element of its approach as a responsible employer, reflecting its strategic ambition in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility ( CSR). “Société Générale Maroc, with more than 3,000 employees, was able to obtain EDGE certification on gender equality, highlighting its desire to strengthen the role of women within its workforce and to promote their presence in management positions”, we learn.

To illustrate this dynamic, Societe Generale Morocco provides some figures. Women thus make up 40% of the total workforce. We note that 42% are on the non-executive board of directors, while 40% are among senior executives and top management, and 50% among high potentials. “This diversity within the bank demonstrates its commitment to creating an inclusive environment conducive to the professional development of women,” says the bank. And to specify that “the Edge certification represents the realization of an inclusive roadmap in terms of human resources management, confirming that diversity is a growth engine to achieve the strategic objectives of the bank”. Speaking about this distinction, Xavier Reille, IFC* country director for the Maghreb and Djibouti, expressed his pride in supporting Societe Generale Morocco in this certification process.

He underlined the crucial importance of promoting female talents. Mr. Reille also recalled that the full and equal participation of women and girls is essential to meet the challenges of the 21st century, both at the level of companies, communities and countries. It should be remembered that the EDGE certification, being the world benchmark for professional gender equality, rigorously assesses various criteria, such as parity within the organization, recruitment and promotion policies, pay equity and corporate culture of diversity. In addition, it takes into account employees’ perception of inclusivity and career opportunities within the company.
