SODIAM raises USD 18.2 million in diamond auction – news

The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (SODIAM) raised 18.2 million dollars (USD 1 is equivalent to Kz 829,739), with the sale at auction of 645.52 carats of rough diamonds.

According to a statement from SODIAM, the diamond auction, being the eighth held in Luanda, featured special stones from Sociedades Mineiras do Lulo, Somiluana, Chitotolo and Uari

According to the note, of the 20 diamond stones, initially announced on November 22nd, only 12 were actually tendered, with eight stones from Sociedade Mineira do Uari being removed, due to an acceptable decision by the mine.

This auction was held at a time when macroeconomic conditions and demand in the international diamond market are still recovering.

The evaluation sessions took place from the 4th to the 7th of this month, at the SODIAM facilities, in Luanda.
