In a remarkable testament to their athletic prowess, Macalester College’s Renee Nicholson and Tess bojorquez have been named to teh Division III All-Region IX third team by the National fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). This accolade recognizes their exceptional contributions to the team’s success this season.
renee Nicholson: A Career Capped with Excellence
Senior outfielder Renee Nicholson concluded her collegiate career with another stellar season.Nicholson batted.398, securing the sixth spot in the MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) for batting average. Her agility on the bases was also notable,as she recorded 19 stolen bases out of 23 attempts. This achievement pushed her career total to 51 stolen bases, ranking her third all-time at Macalester.
In her final regular-season doubleheader on May 3, Nicholson showcased her skills by going 4-for-7 with two runs in a dominant performance against St.Scholastica. Though her final game resulted in a loss to Saint Mary’s during the MIAC Playoffs semifinals, Nicholson’s legacy at Macalester remains solidified. She concludes her career with an impressive 174 hits and 109 runs, both ranking third in the college’s history.

Bojorquez achieved a 10-5 record from the pitching circle, starting in 13 games. She struck out 60 batters and walked 26 in 91 innings. her season included three shutouts, notably complete-game shutouts against Carleton and Gustavus. as a hitter,Bojorquez batted .328 with 40 hits, 17 runs, 10 doubles, and two home runs, contributing 35 RBIs.On April 27, her walk-off single against St. Olaf secured an 8-inning victory and clinched a coveted spot for Macalester in the MIAC Playoffs.
