Somerville: finally a new visual unveiled! | XboxOne

Mute for (too) many months now, Somerville just shared a new look at his hero all the same.

What becomes of it?

Developed by Dino Patti, a Playdead alumnus and co-founder of the studio, Somerville has been in development since 2017 and was originally supposed to be released in 2022, but it doesn’t seem like it… So, in order to make players wait a bit, the teams split a tweet via the company’s official account with, as the main element, a visual of one of the characters. We see it in different situations, and always crowned with this unique graphic style.

As a reminder, this title should offer a narrative adventure in a post-apocalyptic science fiction universe. In the aftermath of a gigantic disaster, you will set off to conquer various striking landscapes in search of your family members. In addition to the desire to find your wife, your young son and your pet dog, you will similarly launch out in search of answers as for the mysterious events taking place on Earth and suggesting the presence of visitors from space.

Exploration and cooperation with the survivors you meet will also be important to escape the aliens and bring your loved ones to safety. Like previous works by the Danish designer, Somerville should benefit from a particularly gripping atmosphere and a careful artistic direction emphasizing the narration by the decorations and the environments, the game being completely devoid of dialogues.

To conclude, it is essential to specify that we can’t wait to play it! Unfortunately, no release date has yet been revealed, although we know that the game will appear on PC and Xbox consoles, and that it will integrate the Game Pass as soon as it is marketed.
