O new PlayStation 5 is real and was officially announced by Sony this Tuesday (10). The new version of the console is smaller and lighter, appearing as a PlayStation 5 Slim, although Sony has not officially used the name. The news applies to both the PlayStation with player and the digital version, and both will be available in stores from November 2023.
Smaller and lighter
According to Sony, the new PlayStation has 30% less volume and an 18% reduction in weight in its new model. In the digital version, the weight reduction will be 24%. The new console, with 1TB of storage space, will have an exterior divided into four parts, with the top made of shiny material and the same original finish on the bottom.
Another new feature is the fact that the new digital version of the PlayStation 5 has space for a disc player that could be added to the console if the player feels the need. The disc player will be sold separately for US$79.99.

Price of the new version of PlayStation 5
With the launch confirmed for November, the new versions of the Sony console also have a defined price in the United States. The current price will be maintained, with the disc player version being offered for US$499.99, while the digital version will be available for US$449.99. There is still no defined price for the new version in Brazil, however, it is likely that the value of the current version will also be maintained.
Sony also confirmed that the original models will not be restocked in stores when stocks run out, with the new versions being the only ones that will continue to be available on the market.
