Sony orders Gaming Heads to destroy licensed toys

A Sony would have ordered that all collectible dolls, including products still in pre-sale and already ordered, be destroyed by the company Gaming Heads, a partner of the owner of PlayStation for more than ten years in the manufacture of these products.

This week, Gaming Heads, in an open letter published on its own social networks, instructed customers who purchased products in advance to get in touch to find out “about orders (now cancelled), payments, refunds, etc.”

The company mentioned Judy Ward, PlayStation Business Partnerships Manager, even providing her email address so customers can get more information. Many items that will be destroyed are in stock, ready to be shipped.

We’ve worked with Sony PlayStation for over 10 years to bring you some of the best video game collectibles, and we’ve tried hard to convince them to change their minds. They know you invested your hard-earned money in items ready to ship to you or in production, but unfortunately, after we did everything possible, they told us not to ship the products. “Our business priorities remain unchanged,” a recent quote straight from Sony.

Therefore, all items related to games such as The Last of Us, God of War, Sly Cooper and others need to be destroyed. Also according to Gaming Heads, royalties from some advance purchases would have already been passed on to Sony.

Unfortunately, Gaming Heads did not explain what caused this decision on Sony’s part. To date, the Japanese company has also not publicly commented on the reason for such a drastic and negative measure for consumers.

And you, what did you think about Sony’s decision? Tell us in the comments below!
