Sony (SONY.US) challenges Microsoft (MSFT.US) Xbox!New version of PlayStation game subscription service launched

The Zhitong Finance APP was informed that the new version of PlayStation was launched on Monday, offering members hundreds of new and old games. PlayStation Plus is the game subscription service that Sony (SONY.US) used to challenge Microsoft’s (MSFT.US) Xbox Game Pass.

Sony has consolidated existing services into a single subscription service, divided into three membership levels: The Essential Basic Edition costs $10 a month and enjoys the same benefits as current PlayStation Plus members, such as the ability to download two games per month, exclusive Discounts, cloud storage to save games, access to multiplayer online play. For $15 a month, the Extra upgrade includes all the benefits of the Basic Edition, plus up to 400 more popular PS4 and PS5 games, including best-sellers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. Premium Premium Edition for $18 per month, with all the benefits of the Basic and Upgraded Editions, plus up to 240 new games, including PS3 games via cloud streaming, and classic game streams beloved across the PS2 and PSP generations Streaming and downloading options.

Fans have been amazed by PlayStation Plus’ core library lineup so far, including Spider-Man and Returnal, as well as Red Line II from Take-Two and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. from Square Enix.

But the new version of PlayStation Plus is different from its rival, Xbox Game Pass, in that it doesn’t include brand new games. Sony’s Forbidden Horizon, which launched in February, didn’t make it to the service, and the upcoming God of War wasn’t immediately available on the platform. It is understood that the day before the release of the new PlayStation Plus, Microsoft just wrapped up its annual Xbox conference.
