Sony has started cloud game streaming beta testing on PlayStation 5 for some users.

The beta, which appears to be randomly available to PSN players, allows players to stream some games from the cloud onto their consoles. The service will be included as part of PlayStation Plus Premium when it becomes officially available.

The list of available titles should include PlayStation 5 games from the PlayStation Plus games catalog and the Game Trials, as well as digital titles in players’ libraries that support the feature.

According to users who were selected for the beta, the service offers 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 4K resolutions. The latter is surprising, as in direct comparison, Xbox Cloud Streaming doesn’t bring that resolution.

The list of available games includes God of War: Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Fortnite, Fall Guys, Destiny 2, Returnal, Demon’s Souls, Death Stranding, Sackboy A Big Adventure, Destruction All Stars and Fall Guys. It is worth mentioning that Resident Evil Village and Demon Slayer also have tests.

When Sony announced the feature, it said that streaming supported PlayStation 5 games would be made available directly on the console and members of the latest membership tier would be able to play the titles without the need to download.

It is worth remembering that Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said a few months ago that the company was preparing to reveal “aggressive plans” in the cloud gaming segment.

In a recent interview, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said technical problems persist with cloud gaming technology. The executive said that despite being complicated, it is a challenge that the company wants to face.
