Reference instant messaging thus makes it possible to modify a message sent without deleting it, this functionality being however only permitted within 15 minutes following sending, while maintaining transparency since the recipient will be notified that the text has been amended.
“Recipients of messages will be aware of the fix without the edit history showing,” WhatsApp explained on the blog post.
To do this, Meta specifies that it will take a long press on the message sent to see the “edit” feature appear in the menu, within fifteen minutes of sending it.
This new feature is not currently available on all phones. It is rolling out globally and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, WhatsApp said.
