Sources: The Palestinian government will be sworn in next Sunday

Palestine – Informed sources revealed that the new Palestinian government headed by Muhammad Mustafa will be sworn in next Sunday by President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian President assigned Mustafa to form the 19th Palestinian government within the period specified in the amended Basic Law of 2003.

At the end of last February, Abbas had accepted the resignation of the government of Muhammad Shtayyeh.

The Palestinian News Agency published the tasks of the new Prime Minister in the text of the assignment, which include: coordinating efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip, reunifying Palestinian institutions, continuing reform that leads to a system based on governance and transparency and combating corruption, and preparing to hold legislative and presidential elections in all Palestinian governorates, including the city. It is noteworthy that Muhammad Mustafa Al-Safarini is 69 years old and was born in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank.

In 1972, he joined the University of Baghdad, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering in 1976.

In 1983, he joined George Washington University in the United States, from which he obtained a master’s degree in management in 1985.

He continued his education in the same year 1985 at George Washington University, where he obtained a doctorate in business administration and economics in 1988.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and one of the largest Palestinian businessmen.

He held administrative positions in the Palestinian Telecommunications Group “Paltel”, the Palestinian Investment Fund of the Palestinian Authority, and the World Bank in the American capital.

Mustafa was appointed ten years ago to help lead reconstruction efforts in Gaza, after the 2014 war.

He was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy in the Government of National Accord that was formed in 2014. He remained in the position for one year. He also worked as an economic reform advisor to the Government of Kuwait, and an advisor to the Public Investment Fund in Saudi Arabia.

In January 2023, the Palestinian President appointed him to the position of Governor of the State of Palestine at the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in the State of Kuwait, and he continued to do so until January 2024, when he assumed the position of Governor of the State of Palestine at the Arab Monetary Fund.
