South Africa aim for Women’s World Cup in 2027

Already a pioneer by organizing the Men’s World Cup in 2010, South Africa might do it once more by becoming the first African nation to host the Women’s World Cup.

FIFA announced this week that it had received four applications for the organization of the 2027 edition. The decisive vote will take place on May 17.

South Africa finds itself in competition with Brazil and two joint candidatures, Germany-Belgium-Netherlands and USA-Mexico.

Women’s football is booming in the south of the continent, like the first CAN won last year by the Banyana Banyana in Morocco.

The teammates of Thembi Kgatlana will play at the end of July in Australia and New Zealand the second world in their history following their participation in the 2019 edition. They will face Argentina, Italy and Sweden.
