Bruce had previously announced the list of the South African national team, which is preparing to enter a closed camp for two friendly matches during the international break, and among the names selected was Percy Tau, the Al-Ahly club player.
“Percy Tau is an important player for sure, but he hasn’t been 100% ready in the last two games,” Hugo Bruce said in a press conference on Monday morning.
He added: Percy Tau is now injured in the knee and will be out for weeks, and therefore he will not be in the matches of Guinea and France, and Victor Letswalo was called to replace him.
The South African team will play two friendly matches during its camp, where it will play the first match against Guinea on March 25, before facing France on the 29th of the same month.
It is noteworthy that South Africa did not qualify for the final round of qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as it finished second, with a single goal difference from Ghana, who qualified at the top of the group.
