Batting first, Bangladesh could only manage 194 for nine. In reply, South Africa reached the target in 37.2 overs. Kyle Veerani (58 off 77 balls with two sixes and four fours), opener and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kok (62 off 41 balls with 62 fours and 9 fours) and skipper Themba Bauma (37 off 52 balls) were the top scorers. Kagiso Rabada, who took five wickets for 39 runs, smashed Bangladesh. Lungi Ngidi, Wayne Parnell, Tabriz Shamsi and Razi Wander Dusan took one wicket each. Afif Hossain (72 off 107 balls), Mehdi Hasan Mirza (38 off 49 balls, two sixes and a four) and Mahmudullah (25) were the only batsmen to make the cut. Bangladesh won the first ODI by 38 runs. Batting first, they scored 314 for seven. In reply, South Africa were all out for 276 in 48.5 overs.
