South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa Pushes for Peace Plan at Russia-Africa Summit to Resolve Russia-Ukraine Conflict

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa want during one Russia-Africa Summit this week a peace plan between Russia and Ukraine advance.

The meeting, which begins Thursday in St. Petersburg, Russia, “provides an opportunity to continue talks with President (Vladimir) Putin on confidence-building measures that will create conducive conditions for a path to peace between Russia and Ukraine,” Ramaphosa said.

South Africa’s President leads an African peace initiative to end Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. This has through the Stopping the grain deal gained new explosiveness also for Africa through Moscow. Many African countries are suffering from the war because they depend on grain and fertilizers from Russia and Ukraine – which are now missing.

In June, an African delegation led by Ramaphosa traveled to Moscow and Kiev to mediate, but without any discernible success.
In addition to South Africa, the African delegation includes representatives from Egypt, Senegal, Zambia, the Republic of Congo, Uganda and the Comoros. According to their own statements, their peace initiative includes a ten-point plan.
