A SpaceX launched last Saturday (26) a rocket with 22 satellites from Starlink to be deployed in low Earth orbit. With that, the billionaire’s connection company Elon Musk surpassed the mark of 5 thousand pieces of equipment sent to space.

According to information from astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell’s tracking website, the batch called Starlink Group 6-11 took off on top of a Falcon 9 model B1080-3, from the United States Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral, California. Florida.

Takeoff took place at 10:05 pm (Brasília time) and the first stage of the Falcon 9 returned to Earth regarding 8.5 minutes later for a landing on the SpaceX drone ship “Just Read the Instructions”, which was in a strategic location in the Atlantic Ocean.

Despite celebrating the mark of more than 5,000 satellites in orbit, Elon Musk’s company wants to go further than that and has authorization for 12,000 satellites. However, Starlink has already requested approval for another 30,000 pieces of equipment, that is, 42,000 in total.

Market projections indicate that Starlink will obtain an annual profit of US$ 30 billion to US$ 50 billion (between almost R$ 150 billion and R$ 250 billion, approximately) from the conclusions of generations 1 and 2 of the company’s Musk.

SpaceX hopes to invest some of that profit in its ambitious Starship program, which promises to be the most powerful rocket ever created. The project’s first orbital flight attempt resulted in an explosion minutes following takeoff, in April of this year.
