Spain and Portugal will stop selling electricity to France

In order to reduce electricity prices for the population, Spain and Portugal decided to stop selling electricity to France.

According to the newspaper The country the relevant documents have already been sent to the European Commission. In Brussels, this proposal was treated with caution, as they fear a violation of the single European market.

Germany and Northern Europe have already opposed. The decision has not yet been made, Spain will have to wait until the end of the month for a preliminary response.

As an initial measure, Madrid proposed delimiting prices for electricity consumed in the territory of the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.

Earlier, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that in the next 5-10 years Europe will have nothing to replace Russian gas and oil.
