The Spanish government described the decision as “a decisive step”. Minister Irene Montero has made it clear that the time to work on pain relief after taking medicine is over. But there are precise provisions for granting leave. You can not go on vacation just because you are menstruating. Vacation is for related disorders. This must be certified by a doctor.

Currently, menopause occurs in Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, South Korea and Zambia. In 2016, Italy was ready to implement the law but was rejected by parliament. The move in Spain is now being discussed around the world. While praising it as a woman-friendly decision, opposition is also strong. On the one hand, it would force employers to deny women jobs.
