Expansion of Smoke-Free Zones
The proposed legislation represents a major shift in Spanish public health policy, moving beyond the interior spaces covered by previous smoking bans. By extending the prohibition to outdoor areas, the government intends to reduce secondhand smoke exposure and normalize smoke-free environments in high-traffic social spaces.
Under the current draft, the ban would encompass:
