A group of foreign rotating Family and Community Medicine Resident Physicians from Spain are participating in activities and operations of the Ministry of Addiction Prevention and Drug Control within the framework of their specialization, which they carry out in Misiones.
The professionals carry out their specialization within the framework of the management carried out by the Missionary Association of General/Family Medicine and the Health Team, chaired by Dr. Lidia Caballero before the provincial authorities for the development of activities in Primary Health Care .
In this sense, during the year there will be 28 rotations that will tour the province in different spaces, Care Centers, hospitals, and comprehensive operations organized by the Ministry of Addiction Prevention, as well as Public Health.
Beatriz Ferrero, Carla Palacios Castello and Macarena Martín shared the operations carried out by the ‘Day Home in your neighborhood’, among them, in the EPET 30 of the municipality of San José, where there was an important call for families, with children and adolescents , from newborns who demanded attention, to adults.
“We have the opportunity to carry out an external rotation during our training, we had the contact of a doctor from here and thus the possibility of coming to Posadas and the idea is to do rural medicine,” commented the young women, who work in the University Hospital of the San Juan de Alicante Hospital and the Virgen de los Lirios Hospital.
The doctors, who had already known the Itaembé Guazú Hospital, made a difference and expressed that “in Spain, community medicine is not very well developed.”
For their part, María Abellán and Verónica Sánchez, also rotating, had the opportunity to visit Puerto Iguazú, and learn about the activities of the ‘Plato Guazú’ Program and the delivery of food, they highlighted that “the other day talking to each other we came to the conclusion in three words: humanity, solidarity and community”.
“The first day we saw the hard and wonderful work you do. We were moved that moment when you walked through the door and all the children ran to give you a hug. The smiles of the little ones while they ate, seeing how the older ones take care and worry”, they described.
“Seeing these women, because almost all of them are women, holding the baton of their community and managing everything so that the boys have a place to play and have a snack, is admirable,” described the rotantes.
«At the ‘Corazón a Corazón’ picnic area, what they transmitted to us the most was strength and desire to fight to get the maximum resources for their children. A committed community from the heart”, added the young women.
The rotating women got to know the Iguazú Day Home and learned about the work that is done, they also visited the Jasy Porã village where trade courses are taught, they got to know its Primary Care Center, where they met with the local nurse.
Within the framework of the visit, they made the complete tour of the Guazú Plate program through hotels and then delivered the donations at the picnic areas and preventive points.
In the Workshop on Addictions, held in San Javier, meanwhile, the rotating members José Miguel Alija and Fernando Gil Muyor participated, who witnessed the meeting with community leaders from various municipalities.
Of the total number of rotating medicine residents, three are family and community nursing residents. The Spaniards arrived in the province in different months of the year, according to the program, from January to November inclusive.
