A Spanish woman who was gang-raped by assailants while traveling with her husband in India said to overseas media, “I do not regret going to India and plan to continue traveling with my husband in the future.”

On the 19th, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) interviewed influencer couple Vicenti (63) and Fernanda (28), who have been traveling around the world on a motorcycle for several years.

Fernanda was traveling to India with her husband when she was attacked in Dumka District (administrative unit) in the eastern state of Jharkhand on the night of the 1st. While sleeping in a tent with her husband, she was attacked by assailants and then sexually assaulted.

Fernanda reported the incident to the police and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police arrested three suspects and are tracking five.

They are currently resting in Spain after experiencing a nightmarish incident in India.

Regarding camping in a sparsely populated area, Fernanda said, “India is a very populous country,” and “There are a lot of people wherever you go.” He continued, “Whenever we stop the motorcycle, people flock to us, but it was inconvenient when we wanted to be alone. We need privacy when going to the bathroom. “So we mainly looked for places where there were no people,” he explained.

When asked, “In the wake of this incident, give advice to women who are considering traveling to India,” he said, “People think I will say, ‘Don’t go to India,’ but life is much more complicated than that.” “What happened to me in India?” “It could have happened somewhere else,” he said.

“I would like to advise women to get out of the house and travel without fear,” she said. “However, when camping, you should choose a place not far from the road where you can easily ask for help and where there is a cell phone signal.”

The couple plans to continue traveling the world in the future. “We will go back to Nepal, where our motorcycle is, and then we will go through China, Laos and Cambodia to Tibet,” said her husband Vicente. “We also want to go to Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.”

He added, “I will travel to Central Asia through Japan, Korea, Russia, and Mongolia, then briefly return to Europe and then travel throughout Africa.”
