On a popular comment forum a post was shared by the Twitter user, “@annaancoco“, where he revealed that during a visit to a psychiatric hospital a few years ago, his doctor recommended that he not watch the series Neon Genesis Evangelion if you were depressed.
His original thread wrote:
- When I went to the mental hospital, I was wearing a Neon Genesis Evangelion T-shirt, specifically Kaworu Nagisa’s. The doctor asked me:Do you like Neon Genesis Evangelion? Do you like Kaworu Nagisa?“. I replied: “Yes, but I also like Shinji Ikari“. And the doctor answered me:Don’t watch Neon Genesis Evangelion if you’re depressed. Don’t look at Kaworu-kun“.
- This happened in 2017, I am currently in remission (recovery), and I watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rebuild of Evangelion and old series normally. If you like Neon Genesis Evangelion but are down, check out the collaborative episodes with Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion. Kaworu doesn’t appear there, so don’t worry.
Another Twitter user, “@kaworuDejavuKaworu Nagisa asked him what his shirt was about. Was it the one from the TV series? Was it the one from The End of Evangelion? Was it the one from Rebuild of Evangelion? It seems that all those versions of the character are slightly different. Thus, the user replied that it was the original series for television.
Of course, the original post also inspired a variety of comments, notably:

Sinopsis de Neon Genesis Evangelion
In a post-apocalyptic world, the last remaining human settlement in Japan is the heavily fortified city of Tokyo-3. Fourteen-year-old Shinji Ikari is taken to the headquarters of NERV, an underground organization run by his estranged father, Gendou.
