Ahmedabad: A group of spectators chanted Jai Shriram at Indian pacer Mohammad Shami during the fourth Test match against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The incident took place on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the match is taking place.
Jai Shri Ram slogans were raised from the gallery when the Indian players stood outside the boundary line before the start of the match. Its video is widely circulated on social media. At first, the audience can be seen calling Suriya Kumar Yadav and the actor greeting him in the video. After that, the crowd chanted the name of Mohammad Shami and chanted Jai Shri Ram. Shami was accompanied by Cheteshwar Pujara, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill and Mohammad Siraj at this time.
The video also shows Shami standing calmly on the ground amid chants of Jai Shri Ram from the crowd. The opposition criticized the match as a PR celebration for Narendra Modi’s BJP. It is also alleged that BJP bought 80,000 tickets on the first day of the test. Earlier, after India lost to Pakistan in the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup, there was a widespread hate campaign against Mohammad Shami on social media.
