Istanbul filmmaker Lisa Kalan has won the 26th IFFK Spirit of Cinema Award at the 26th International Film Festival (26th IFFK). Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the award, said Chalachithra Academy Chairman Ranjith. The prize money is Rs 5 lakh. The Spirit of Cinema Award is the new award category launched this year at the International Film Festival.

Istanbul filmmaker Lisa Kalan lost her legs during the 2015 terrorist attacks in Turkey. Chalachithra Academy Chairman Ranjith said, “We will continue to honor such filmmakers in future editions of IFFK.”

He also said that special consideration will be given to students in IFFK. He added that students take cinema seriously and they need to be encouraged.

Trying to give as many passes as possible to students. “We are also trying to get concessions from hotels for them to stay during the film festival,” he said.
