SPÖ debate: “A really bad picture”

Tennengauer representatives of the two applicants for the SPÖ federal presidency in a TN conversation about the vote between Andreas Babler and Hans-Peter Doskozil next weekend.

Each candidate for the SPÖ federal presidency received around a third of the votes, with a two percent lead for the Burgenland governor Hans-Peter Doskozil: This narrow result of the member vote surprised the Tennengauer SPÖ chairman and Doskozil supporter Roland Meisl: “I wouldn’t have expected them to be so close, I was hoping for a clearer result, for Hans-Peter Doskozil of course.”

Now, at the special party conference on June 3 in Linz, there will be a vote between Doskozil and the runner-up, Traiskirchen Mayor Andreas Babler (party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner announced her resignation after coming in just under third). Meisl says: “To put it diplomatically, it’s difficult for me to understand what’s going on with the party at the moment. First there are excruciatingly long discussions about how to handle the member survey, then the whole thing is questioned and thrown overboard. The picture, that we’re giving away is really bad.”
