On the 10th, the sports climbing world championship held in Switzerland held a “speed” event to compete for the speed of climbing a 15-meter-high wall with a common global route.

“Speed” was implemented as one of the combined events at the Tokyo Olympics, but it will be the sole event at the Paris Olympics next year, and the top two athletes of this year’s World Championships will be tentatively selected to participate in the Paris Olympics.

A 19-year-old boy, Yasukawa broke through the qualifying round in 8th place with a time of 5.27 seconds, and was the only Japanese player to advance to the final tournament, where the top 16 players face each other one-on-one.

In the first round, Yasukawa faced Kazakhstan’s Lishat Hybrin, and although they were competing in the early stages, they were unable to hold onto the ball in the middle stage and fell down.

Yasukawa, who missed out on advancing to the quarterfinals, ended up in 12th place due to her qualifying time, and was not selected to represent the Paris Olympics at this tournament.

The winner was Italy’s Matteo Zurloni.
