The electoral process in sports federations must take place in accordance with the stipulations of Law No. 06/14, Law of Associations, in the period between June and August 2024.
According to the document from the National Sports Directorate (DND), the aforementioned deadline may, exceptionally, extend until the end of October, for those modalities that are qualified for the Paris Olympic Games.
The document states that holding elections for the renewal of mandates is mandatory, adding that members in full enjoyment of their rights, who have participated in the official tests in the last two years, vote.
“Clubs must carry out the electoral process from January to April, while provincial associations from April to June”, reads the document.
On the other hand, the National Sports Directorate, led by Daniel Nicolau, urged all leaders to create adequate legal conditions for peaceful elections.
