Kozhikode: The 26th National Senior Women’s Football Championship will kick off in Kozhikode on Sunday, District Collector Tej Lohit Reddy, who is also the General Convener of the tournament, said at a press conference. At 9 am at the Corporation EMS Stadium, Minister P.A. Muhammad Riyaz will inaugurate. Minister Ahmed Devarkovil will preside over the function. The championship, which runs until December 9, will feature 32 teams in eight groups. Preliminary round matches will be played at four stadiums in Kannur, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. Quarter finals will be played at Kozhikode Corporation EMS Stadium, Medical College Stadium and Koothuparambu Stadium. The semi-finals and final will be played at EMS Stadium. Eight teams from Group E and G will play at EMS Stadium and eight teams from Group F and H will play at Kozhikode Medical College Ground. The matches will be played at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm. Admission is free for spectators. The match is organized by the All India Football Federation under the joint auspices of the State Sports Department, District Sports Councils, District Football Associations and Sports Kerala Foundation.
