Spotify for Mac gets new navigation interface

O Spotify today announced an update to its Mac app. The new version brings the well-known section “Your Library” in the form of a sidebar that, according to the company, is now more customizable and easier to use.

In addition to allowing access to everything that is saved by the user, the sidebar also lets you customize the order of items that are displayed in it and even pin favorite content. Spotify also said that the new navigation interface has “flexible sizing”.

You can hover and click on the right edge of the sidebar to drag it to your preferred width. You can also fully expand the sidebar by clicking the arrow button at the top, and fully collapse it by clicking the “Your Library” header to see just the cover art.

The Swedish company also said that the new sidebar is capable of filtering content by collection (playlists, artists, albums, podcasts…) and combining them with other filters, sorting the collection’s classification (recent, recently added, alphabetical, custom order ) and much more.

In favor of the new sidebar, Spotify has stated that it is no longer possible to view the section as before. The new interface is being released from today, gradually, for all users of the app for macOS or on the web — the web player, however, will not be as complete as the application itself.
