Spring Festival Graz 2022 with DJ Legend Fatboy Slim

After a break due to corona, the Graz Spring Festival wants to start again this year from June 15th to 19th. The British DJ Fatboy Slim will also be there, and his “The Rockafeller Skank” should still be on the minds of millennials in particular. Schranz legend Chris Liebing and rapper Juju from Germany have also confirmed, the organizers announced on Maundy Thursday. The two Germans should have appeared in 2020.

The line-up for the 22nd edition of the festival is not yet ready, it said when asked by APA. But the performance of Fatboy Slim on June 16th at the Kasematten on the Schloßberg in Graz is fixed. In addition to “The Rockafeller Skank”, “Praise You” – also known from the soundtrack to the cult film “Eiskalte Engel” – and “Weapon Of Choice” are among the world-famous hits by the Brit, which were released shortly before and around the turn of the millennium. You can still hear them on playlists, on the radio, and in commercials to this day. His album “You’ve Come A Long Way Baby” is considered one of the most important albums in the field of electronic music.

Juju, on the other hand, is a well-known figure in the rap scene and won the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards in the “Best German Act” category. According to her own statements, the rapper is “non-conformist, opinionated and own”, it said in the broadcast. The German Chris Liebing is considered the inspiration for the “Schranz” music style, which is characterized by particularly hard, repetitive and fast techno sounds. The Schranz wave from Germany arrived in Austria’s discos in the early 2000s.

The Graz Spring Festival is one of the largest Austrian platforms for electronic art and music and is a stepping stone in front of an international specialist audience. 60 percent of the performing acts come from the local artist scene. In the past two years, instead of a festival, a production competition has been announced and a record has been released. In addition, streams from various locations such as the Dachstein glacier or the Erzberg in Eisenerz were offered.
