Forspoken is Square Enix’s new blockbuster coming to PS5 and PC. While it was expected for the end of May, the Luminous Productions studio announced that its game would finally be released several months late. It is now scheduled for October 2022.
Square Enix is betting a lot on Forspoken in this year 2022. This open-world which takes place in a fantasy universe is indeed a next-gen blockbuster planned for PS5 and pc. In addition to establishing a new license, the game must be a technical demo. It has just been delayed.
Luminous Productions, the studio behind the game, has indeed posted a message on Twitter. Forspoken was supposed to be released on May 24, but was ultimately delayed for several months. Its release date is now set for October 11, 2022.

The developer message posted on Twitter doesn’t really go into detail, just explaining that the teams want to provide the best possible experience for players. We understand here that the title is simply not finished and needs to be refined. If this can allow it to be better (and avoid possible crunch), it’s for the best. As a reminder, Forspoken first was billed as Project Athia, a nebulous open-world that foreshadowed a technical slap on PS5. A few months ago, Square Enix finally lifted the veil on its project which bears the name Forspoken.

It’s about an open-world action RPG whose gameplay revolves around magic. The player embodies Frey, a young New Yorker projected into the fantastic world of Athia. Endowed with magical powers, she will have to fight against the forces of evil to restore the balance of this universe. A sort of endless story but brought up to date, in short.
The few gameplay sequences seen here and there promise a nervous and enjoyable game. All that remains now is to wait for October to have a definitive opinion. For the moment, the end of the year is still sparse in terms of game releases, but there is no doubt that announcements will rain down soon. Forspoken will have to defend his life dearly against the blockbusters that will be released then.
