Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa

Following the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was the Prime Minister and Finance Minister, resigned from the Parliament but remained in the position of President, despite the resignation of his family members.

Harsha De Silve, a member of the Sri Lankan Parliament, took to Twitter and shared the video of the protest on social media. The video shows MPs holding placards and chanting slogans. After this, Gotabaya spoke to his aides and left the Parliament.

Harsha shared the video with a note that this happened a little while ago and that the President had to leave the Parliament, which has never happened in the history of Sri Lanka.

At the same time, Sri Lanka is in dire straits due to the lack of foreign exchange to import key resources during the financial crisis. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in Parliament today that this crisis will last till the end of next year.
