Zurich (awp) – Thurgau rolling stock manufacturer Stadler Rail has received a new order from the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) for 16 accumulator multiple units. Their commissioning is expected for 2028.
This first order amounts to 194 million euros (186 million Swiss francs), reports a press release published on Monday. It is part of a framework agreement allowing the ordering of up to 120 trainsets for a total amount of 1.3 billion euros (1.2 billion in Swiss francs).
Of the “Cityjet” type, the new trainsets will be intended for the Kamptalbahn line in Lower Austria. The operation of these trains is possible on electrified and non-electrified lines, specifies the Bussnang group.
