Stan Wawrinka (ATP 40) returns to the ATP Tour 10 days following a disappointing Davis Cup campaign for Switzerland. The Vaudois is competing in the ATP 250 in Astana which begins on Wednesday.
Seeded No. 8 in the table in Kazakhstan, Stan Wawrinka will face Marcos Giron (ATP 64) in the 1st round. This will be his first face-to-face with the 30-year-old American, 8th finalist in the Masters 1000 in Toronto this summer.
Stan Wawrinka (38 years old) might face in the 2nd round another ex-world No. 3, the Austrian Dominic Thiem (ATP 80), who will face the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (ATP 70) in the 1st round. The Vaudois was eliminated in the first round last year in Astana.
