The four Academicians had to work on songs, in Tuesday’s daily newspaper, for next Sunday’s semi-final. Strategic choices as much to highlight their voice as to please the public.

Instead of the usual evaluations, the Academicians were invited to a working session with the three teachers in order to prepare their solo moment during the next variety show.
Camélia Zaki had started with the idea of resuming “I’m sick”, by Serge Lama, which Lara Fabian has already performed so brilliantly. His performance did not impress anyone, and Gregory Charles quickly advised him to go and tap into another repertoire.
With Lara, they discussed the idea of making him sing “Quand on n’a que l’amour”, by Jacques Brel. The young woman tried it without being convinced, preferring to choose another song in English. Greg was skeptical, and nothing is finally decided yet.
Krystel Mongeau also gave in to the proposals of the teaching staff. Her rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “Cry Pretty” was far from perfect. Above all, Guylaine Tremblay made her understand that it was time for her to sing in French. Several titles like “I would not stop loving you”, by Lara Fabian, or “The hymn to love”, by Piaf offered him. Krystel, who wants to show a different facet of her talent, finally settled on “I don’t love you anymore”, by Mario Pelchat.
Eloi Cummings realized he had to show off another expanse of his vocal talent for the upcoming variety. He opted for “The beggar’s opera”, by Nicola Ciccone, which allows him to push the note. The teachers found that the song suited him like a glove. “You messed me up from the first chorus,” added Greg with a laugh. We will have to start the first chorus softer, and go gradually.
Finally, Olivier Bergeron wanted to present a composition of his own. But after singing “In an old closet”, the teachers were confused by the seriousness of the lyrics, which represent his state of mind before entering the Academy.
“I have rarely seen someone so hurt who wanted to heal,” said Lara Fabian, before advising her to put a little more hope in her text.
“It’s really inspiring, said Gregory Charles while talking with Olivier. But your song is no match for the guy you are today.” He offered to take over “The voice that I have”, by Offenbach. After listening to it and trying to interpret it, Olivier finally decided to keep this proposal.
For the record, during the semi-finals, the votes of the public will determine the first finalist, while the teachers will choose the second.
