“For the pride he instilled in us in Star Academy and inspiration for young people in the pursuit of their dreams, I am presenting Éloi Cummings with the medal of the National Assembly,” declared the Member of Parliament for the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Joël Arseneau, during the ceremony.

Only 16 years old, the Madelinot singer quickly won the hearts of the public who, week following week, allowed him to continue the adventure until the grand finale of the contest, where he finally finished in second place.

Having contracted COVID-19, Eloi even managed to avoid elimination by singing alone in a makeshift Academy studio while in isolation.

Humble and authentic, the young singer proudly represented his region and became a proud ambassador.

During the ceremony, the PQ member also awarded the National Assembly medal to Carmel Lapierre, Groupe Suroît and Céline Lafrance.
