Starbucks Plans to Open 30 New Subsidiaries in Switzerland: CEO Reveals Expansion Strategy

The American coffee chain Starbucks wants to open around thirty new subsidiaries in Switzerland. The boss of Starbucks Switzerland, Stefan Hungenberg, is thinking of classic cafés in cities large and small, as well as ‘drive-through’ branches.

The channel currently operates 57 sites in Switzerland, says Stefan Hungenberg in an interview published Monday by the newspapers of the German-speaking group CH-Media. ‘If we reach 90 sites, that’s great. But if we have 80 which are all profitable, that’s also very good,’ he says. At the same time, it is possible that the chain will close unprofitable sites.

Mr Hungenberg is also considering ‘drive through’ cafes, where you can order while staying in your car. Discussions are currently underway. Starbucks will open such subsidiaries as soon as it has found the right partner and the right location, explains its boss for Switzerland.
