In an interview, the head of Bethesda Game Studios, Todd Howard, spoke regarding whether the studio id Software, which created the Doom shooter series, helped in the development of Starfield.

The producer and designer admitted that id Software was really involved in the work on Starfield, but only when it came to graphics.

«[…] in the case of Fallout 4 they [разработчики из id Software – ред.] gave us some advice regarding the combat system. In the case of Starfield, we have changed the combat system ourselves and feel like [в ней – ред.] Great. But id helped us more with the graphic side of the game.”

“Among them [новых функций – ред.] – motion blur. This makes the game feel smoother. In addition, there were a few other things that they use at id Tech that we wanted to bring to Creation Engine 2. They helped us with that, which is great.”

id Software’s latest projects are Doom Eternal, which was released in 2020, and the final version of Quake Champions in 2022. Since then, there has been no information regarding the activities of the studio.
