Starfield: PC, Xbox Series X, Series S, Steamdeck… How does Bethesda’s new blockbuster work?

2023-09-01 13:15:57

IGN’s technical test Tried two PC setups, one low performing and one very powerful. With the first, 4K resolution and high graphics options, the game reaches 60 frames per second indoors, but outdoors on planets or places with a lot of characters, the rate drops to 40-45 FPS. To stay above the famous 60 mark, you have to lower the graphic quality to a rather average level and choose a lower resolution, such as 1080p.

On the second PC equipped with overpowered components, and therefore very expensive, the game is maintained at 60 FPS, with occasional slight drops. But in both configurations, the game is very power-hungry and should spin GPUs, and fans, in most cases.
