Adele burst into tears on stage when she was surprised by her former English teacher, Miss McDonald.

The singer was on stage on Sunday, November 22 during her “An Audience with Adele” TV concert when Dame Emma Thompson asked if there was anyone who left a lasting impact on her as a child.

Adele, who had been a student at Chestnut Grove School in Balham, London, mentioned her English teacher, Miss McDonald, and recounted how much the woman had done for her and the other students.

The star claimed that Miss McDonald, with whom she lost contact after the age of 12, rekindled her love for books.

She said: “It had only been a year, but she really made me love literature. As if I had always been obsessed with English and obviously now I write lyrics.

She continued: “She was so cool, so endearing, and she really made us care, and we knew she cared about us and stuff like that.

She had all these gold bracelets and rings. She was really cool and so relatable and likable, that I was really looking forward to my English lessons.

Adele soon found out that Miss McDonald was in the crowd and burst into tears after she joined her on stage.
