The Pinzgau West League team didn’t have much trouble in Henndorf and won just as clearly as Grödig in Hof. They meet in the semi-finals.

St. Johann presented with a 4-1 win in Anif on Monday and is now waiting anxiously to see whether Neumarkt or Kuchl will be their opponents in the semi-finals of the Salzburg State Cup. The two clubs will duel in the final quarter-finals on Wednesday (7 p.m.). It has been clear since Tuesday evening: West league team Saalfelden and Salzburg league team Grödig will play for a ticket to the final in Puch. The two clubs easily prevailed in the round of the best eight teams. The 4-1 win in Hof is particularly good for the people of Grödig, who had a false start in the league in the spring.

Grödig gains a bit of self-confidence in Hof

“We accomplished the task and it was important to finally write positively. This way we can slowly work our way out,” says Grödig’s coach Arsim Deliu. Thanks to goals from Manuel Krainz (17th minute), David Hillebrand (22nd) and Thomas Füreder (36th), the game against the stragglers of the 1st Class North, who were sensational in this year’s State Cup, was soon decided. Shortly after Ousainou Surr’s goal to make it 4-0, Hofer scored a consolation goal in the 70th minute through veteran Damir Tosunovic. Deliu explains: “We missed a number of chances and hit the bar three times. Overall, we could have been more confident. In terms of play, we’re not yet where we want to be. It’s all about the subtleties. That’s what makes football.”
