Thiruvananthapuram: State Film Awards 2022 will be announced on Wednesday. Culture Minister Saji Cherian will announce the awards at a press conference at 11 am in the PR Chamber of the Secretariat. The awards will be decided by a jury chaired by Bengali director, screenwriter and actor Gautam Ghosh.
A record 154 films are in competition this time. There were 142 films in 2021 and 80 films in 2020 due to Covid. 30 percent of the films are considered by the final jury after the preliminary jury sees them.
It is indicated that there are many films in the final round including Lijo Jose Pellissery – Mammootty film Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkum, which won awards at various film festivals, Kunchacko Boban film Nna Than Case Kodu, Tarun Murthy’s Saudi Vellaka, Pushu and Appan, which gained attention due to its different theme.
The final jury chaired by Gautham Ghosh, a spokesperson for Samanthara Cinema, has actress Gauthami, cinematographer Hari Nair, sound designer D. Yuvraj and playback singer Jency Gregory as members.
