Neighbors can make their concerns known about the redesign.

Vienna (OTS/SPW-K) “Get out of the asphalt!” – this is the motto under which squares and streets throughout the city are being redesigned and heat islands minimized. Next year, the Enkplatz in the heart of Simmering will also shine in new splendor and be climate-friendly. “In the future, the Enkplatz should be climate-friendly and become a lively place. “It should not only be greened, but also cooled and make a more attractive place for people,” says district leader Thomas Steinhart, who invites all residents to make their ideas known.

Of course, central aspects will be taken into account in the future redesign from the outset, such as the preservation of the existing trees, access to the subway and parking garage or the entrances and exits for emergency vehicles. “The square should also continue to be used for markets and events,” explains local councilor Ernst Holzmann.

Resident survey until October 27th
In mid-October, around 10,000 households around Enkplatz will be informed about the project via an information folder and invited to take part in a survey. Between October 12th and 27th, 2023, residents can communicate which topics are important to them for the design of the Enkplatz. You can take part online or using the card found in the folder. The results of the survey are incorporated into the planning.

At the beginning of next year, those interested can get an idea of the project: the planning team will present the plans for the new Enkplatz in an exhibition at the district council.
