Stephen Curry named Sports Illustrated Athlete of the Year 2022

Each year, the renowned magazine Sports Illustrated rewards the best athlete according to his performance on the field without forgetting his contribution outside. And in 2022, in the eyes of ANDno one has done better than Stephen Curry, once again NBA champion with his Warriors.

The year 2022 will go down as one of the finest in Stephen Curry’s legendary career.

It was in 2022 that Steph won his fourth NBA championship with Golden State, perhaps the most impressive of all for him when it comes to leadership and individual performance. It was in 2022 that he won his first Finals MVP title, and his first All-Star Game MVP title after planting 50 points in the All-Star Game. Finally, it was also in 2022 that he graduated from Davidson University, without forgetting to make his contribution outside the courts through his Eat.Learn.Play foundation.

For all these reasons, Sports Illustrated therefore wanted to reward Steph Curry with the honorary title of “Sportsperson of the Year”, in other words Athlete of the Year 2022 in all sports. The best shooter in history thus adds his name to a hyper prestigious list on which there are very big NBA names like Bill Russell (1968), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1985), Michael Jordan (1991), David Robinson and Tim Duncan (2003), Dwyane Wade (2006) and LeBron James (2012, 2016, 2020), not to mention other big names like Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Tom Brady, Serena Williams and Michael Phelps.

It’s a big first for Stephen Curry, even if he had already been awarded in 2018 along with all of the Golden State Warriors. In some years, Sports Illustrated actually prefers to put forward a full team rather than a single player, and four years ago the Warriors won their third NBA title in four seasons with Steph, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

This umpteenth award for Curry comes in any case to further solidify the magnificent legacy of the man, a great way to come full circle for the one who has won everything or almost everything in 2022.

And that, we swear to you, it’s nothing fake.
