Steve Erceg vs Alex Perez: Flyweight Fight Confirmed

Steve Erceg Vows To Rebound After ‘worst Fight Ever,’ set To Face Alex Perez

Las Vegas, Nevada – Steve Erceg, the Australian Ufc fighter, is determined to reignite his career after a series of setbacks, labelling his recent defeat to Brandon Moreno as the nadir of his professional fighting life. Erceg is scheduled to confront Alex Perez in Las Vegas this August, aiming to reverse his fortunes after experiencing what he describes as an uncharacteristic performance.

Erceg is eager to break a three-fight losing streak, a stark contrast to his form 13 months prior when he competed for the flyweight world title. Losses to Alexandre Pantoja, Kai Kara-France, and Moreno have considerably hampered his momentum.

Erceg’s Disappointment With Moreno Fight

“I Think it was the worst fight I’ve ever had in my life,” Erceg revealed. Reflecting on his performance, Erceg expressed dissatisfaction with his approach, admitting he felt overly technical and failed to engage properly. “I Never really even fought,” he lamented.

He further explained, “I’ve never gone in and gone, oh, I think I’m just going to see if I can outpoint him here.Yeah, I’m disgusted with myself, basically.”

Impact Of Kara-France Defeat

Erceg admitted the knockout loss to Kara-France lingered in his mind, resurfacing during the Moreno fight. “I Think there was a multitude of factors, but I think obviously getting knocked out of my last fight [didn’t help],” he conceded.

the fear of another knockout influenced his strategy against Moreno. “I Thought I was over it [the knockout] at the time and then none of Moreno’s shots rocked me or anything, but he hit me with a harder shot and I went, ‘oh, it would be embarrassing to get knocked out two fights in a row’. And then I think that might’ve stuck with me a little bit.”

He added, “And ultimately, it was more embarrassing losing the way I lost to Moreno than it was losing the way I lost to Kai, if that makes sense. So I don’t ever want to feel like I went into a fight and didn’t fight ever again.”

Facing Alex Perez: A Chance For Redemption

The upcoming fight against Perez is viewed as a possibly more manageable challenge compared to Erceg’s previous opponents. Though, Erceg acknowledges he may have been guilty of over-respecting his rivals.

“I Think the fact that thay were such good guys, I was respecting them a little bit too much,” Erceg admitted. This realization has prompted a shift in his mindset.

“And there’s nothing special there,so I am going to go out and treat them like anybody else and do my thing.”

Erceg’s Strategy Against perez

Erceg is approaching the Perez fight with a renewed focus and determination. “He’s a very good wrestler, but he doesn’t seem to use it very much except for defensively,” Erceg observed.

He further noted, “And he likes to blitz with his striking a lot. And he does throw off angle, he does throw hard shots, he does throw longer combos, so it’s a hazardous fighter again.”

Erceg aims to assert dominance from the outset. “Obviously, I want to, but I really plan on going in there and being like ‘I’m the big dog now’, let’s put all this s— behind me and move on’.”
