STIB won two prizes at the prestigious “Red Dot Design Award” on Monday evening for the design of its new TNG tram and its new M7 metro, inspired by the curves of Art Nouveau, the Brussels intermunicipal transport company said in a press release on Tuesday. .

More specifically, the New Generation Tram (TNG) and the M7 metro whose design is signed by the Antwerp office Yellow Window were awarded in the “product design” category, adds STIB. The office founded by designer Axel Enthoven had also participated in the design of the 3000 and 4000 trams, the M6 ​​metros and the most recent buses.

These two prizes are international recognition of the importance given by the Brussels public transport company to the design of all the vehicles in its fleet, right from their conception.“, underlines the STIB.

The Art Nouveau look of the T3000 and T4000 trams (the predecessors of the TNG) had already received the prestigious Henry Van de Velde label in 2007, awarded by Design Vlaanderen. This generation of trams had also won the Design At Work Award for its elegant lines, color composition and original lighting, the company recalls.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international award for product, communication and concept design, awarded by the Design Zentrum, Germany.
