U.S. stocks rose, retreating from morning highs, as investors sifted through data and comments regarding the jobs market and inflation.
The S&P 500 climbed 0.4% in followingnoon trading, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.1%. The technology-focused Nasdaq Composite Index was 0.4% higher. The three indexes were higher in the morning, with the Nasdaq up nearly 2%.
