The authorities are given the necessary tools to take action once morest terrorism and organized crime

Vienna (OTS) – “The expansion of powers to combat terrorism ensures more security in Austria. We welcome the fact that the Minister of Justice is also prepared to expand the powers of the authorities. The Ministry of the Interior and Justice are developing a draft law that will give our investigative authorities the necessary tools to specifically detect and prevent terrorism. As a people’s party, we have been pointing out for a long time that investigators in Austria do not have enough access to the communication data of perpetrators, especially compared to the authorities in other countries. Especially when it comes to messenger services, the law in Austria is still lagging behind the new digital realities,” says the People’s Party’s Secretary General and Security Spokesman, Christian Stocker.

Stocker continued: “Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer made the security of the Austrian population a central issue in his Austria plan. You can see once once more: When it comes to Austria’s security, the People’s Party keeps its promises. In contrast to Herbert Kickl, who destroyed the intelligence service, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner is strengthening our authorities and making Austria safer.”
