The People’s Party wants to develop the EU positively, the FPÖ wants to destabilize it

Vienna (OTS) – “Herbert Kickl wants international isolation instead of cooperation, as his recent statements clearly show. The Freedom Party leader simply didn’t understand the EU principle and its opportunities,” said the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, in response to the latest statements by the blue party leader and continued: “Only with a functioning European community – in which all members are sovereign states are – can we maintain and strengthen prosperity in Europe. Many of the statements made do not correspond to reality, rather it is a revelation of how Herbert Kickl really ticks,” says Stocker, who finally emphasizes: “With his questionable fantasies and slogans, his questionable understanding of European cooperation, democracy and constant stoking of fear, party chairman Kickl drives the Freedom Party further into a radical corner. One thing is clear: we condemn these aggressive statements and stand behind the European idea at all times. As a people’s party, we want to develop the EU further in a positive way and anchor the principle of subsidiarity even more firmly. Meanwhile, the FPÖ is obviously only concerned with destabilizing the European Union.”
