Stöld, the first novel for adults by Ann Helén Laestadius

#RentreeLitteraire22 – It’s winter north of the Arctic Circle. Nine-year-old Elsa is the daughter of Sami reindeer herders. One day, as she skis to the paddock alone, she witnesses the brutal murder of her fawn, Nástegallu. She recognizes the criminal: Robert, a Swede from the neighboring village who has been harassing his family and his community for years. But he threatens her with death and the little girl, terrified, remains silent.

Ten years have passed. Faced with the indifference of the authorities and the police, hatred and threats against the Sami people have continued to intensify.
