It happened that a parking lot staff found an old golden retriever near a restaurant in Lam Tei on April 4. They contacted the Fisheries and Conservation Department to take the dog away because they were worried that the golden retriever would be attacked by the dogs in the parking lot. Later, the Fisheries and Conservation Department successfully contacted the owner of the dog, Mr. Chen, but revealed that the dog’s original name was Amao, who was stolen 5 years ago, and was recently abandoned due to the dog’s old age and otitis media. Mr. Chen, who was not in Hong Kong at the time, asked a friend to pick up Amao first, and then he returned to Hong Kong to take Amao home.
Amao was raised by Mr. Chen from childhood to adulthood. He is about the same age as his Chihuahua, A Chai, and lives together. Five years ago, Amao was stolen in Yiyuan Village, Tuen Mun. He searched for the dog many times but could not find it. I already wanted to give up, but I didn’t expect to meet again after 5 years.
Mr. Chen told this newspaper that after a veterinary examination, Amao had skin diseases and otitis media, but he has basically recovered after taking medicine. For more than half a month, Mr. Chen has patiently adjusted Ah Mao’s diet and let him lose weight. “Because he was too fat, it was a bit difficult to get up at first. The biggest problem was that he refused to eat dog food, and he was not even interested in canned dog food. He eats human-eating lunch boxes with great relish.” However, Amao has recently become willing to eat dog food and has successfully lost weight.
Amao likes to go for a walk in the street. Mr. Chen takes him out 3 times a day. He said with a smile, “Every time, I tell him to walk fast and to lose weight. But he is still old and can’t run as fast as before. “
He also described that the dog has begun to get used to the new family life. “Now every time I go home, he will take the initiative to come over, and finally he is willing to walk around the house. In the middle of the night, he likes to sleep by the door to cool off.” He described, understand Mao and A Chai are 14 years old and don’t spend much time together.
